98 mi · 4,700 ft of climbing · high point 2,805 ft · start/finish downtown Napa (First St & Main St)

The ride
A short one with a lot packed in. Out through American Canyon and Jameson Canyon to I-80 at Fairfield, then off the freeway at Vacaville and up into the hills on Foothill Drive.
Gates Canyon Road is steep and narrow and climbs hard up to Blue Ridge, and Blue Ridge Road takes you along the top, the route's high point at 2,805 ft with views out over the valley. Mix Canyon Road drops you back down to Pleasants Valley Road, and then CA-128 runs up Putah Creek canyon toward Lake Berryessa. Wragg Canyon Road gives you a taste of the lake before 128 takes you on to Monticello Road.
Monticello Road is the way home, curvy all the way back down to Silverado Trail and Napa. All in it's about 98 mi with ~4,700 ft of climbing, an easy afternoon. Fuel up in Vacaville: there's nothing up on the ridge or around Berryessa. Gates Canyon, Blue Ridge and Mix Canyon are steep and narrow, and they can be rough after storms, so check conditions first.
