What's on the Bike

Disclosure: Some links on this page are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only list gear we actually ride with.

Here's what we actually run out on the forgotten roads. No fluff, just what's worked for us.

Comms

Sena 50 series: How Steve, Mike and the group talk on the move. Mesh intercom means nobody gets dropped from the conversation on twisty roads. Check it out

Cameras

GoPro HERO13 Black: The workhorse. Helmet and bike mounts, handles vibration and dust. Check it out

Insta360 (360 camera): For the "how'd they get that shot" third-person footage. Mount it on a selfie stick and the stick disappears. Check it out

Drones

DJI Mavic 3 Pro: The aerials in our videos. Steve flies this one himself as an FAA-licensed, insured pilot. We don't rent it out, sell it, or fly it for the public. It's listed here so you know what shot the footage. See the drone

DJI Neo 2: A small follow-me drone for quick shots on the road. Check it out

The bikes

Suzuki V-Strom 650 (Steve): Light enough for dirt detours, comfy for 450-mile days. Tough as an anvil. Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (Mike): More grunt for the long highway pulls and two-up touring. Honda NX500 (Jesse "The Wiz"): Jesse's ride. He's also the crew mechanic who keeps all three running. V-Strom accessories we like

Tires

Dual-sport/adventure tires (roughly 80/20 street to dirt) for most of our routes. Specific picks coming soon. Shop tires

Boots & gear

Waterproof adventure touring boots, an armored textile jacket and pants, and layers for Sierra passes that can go from 90°F to 40°F in an afternoon. Specific picks coming soon. Shop boots · Shop riding gear
